Anyone else constantly rebuilding their Notion setup for recurring projects
Been using Notion for a while now and the recurring project problem keeps getting me. Things like monthly reviews, weekly planning, ongoing hobby tracking. Every few months I rebuild my setup from scratch because it stops making sense. The thing that keeps breaking down for me is linked databases. I'll set up what feels like a clean system and then three weeks later I have filters I don't remember creating and pages nested inside other pages that I forgot existed. Then I stop using it and just dump everything into one giant page, which defeats the whole point. Curious what people are doing for this specifically. Not the initial setup part, that part is fine, but how you maintain it over time without it turning into a graveyard of halffinished templates and orphaned pages. Also wondering if anyone has gone back to something simpler inside Notion rather than building out more structure. Stripped everything back down and found that actually worked better long term. Because right now I'm genuinely considering just using a single database with tags for everything and calling it done. What does your recurring project setup actually look like after a year or more of real use?

in my setup, projects are just navigation and a filter to a set of related pages (Resources) and tasks. Tasks are also navigation/filter to related Resources.I almost never create pages outside of the core resources/content database. Resources hold all the content. I'm not sure what aspect of "recurring" you are focused on or is giving you trouble, but I'm listening.▲ 2 upvotes
Yeah, this is basically the Notion life cycle. What finally stuck for me was going the opposite direction from more structure: one database, a "type" property for reviews/planning/hobby tracking, a "status" property for active vs archived, and a saved view per context instead of separate pages.
